Who is Zipper Zoo?
Supreme hardware for wild bagmakers
I am a bagmaker myself.
What started as a hobby slowly grew into a passion — and eventually into a business, even though that was never the original plan.
When I started sewing bags, I quickly noticed how difficult it was to find good bagmaking supplies. Zippers were not always reliable. Hardware from different shops rarely matched perfectly. Colour ranges didn’t line up.
As a maker, you notice these things immediately. A bag can be sewn perfectly, but if the zipper catches or the hardware doesn’t work together nicely, something still feels off.
So I started looking for better solutions myself. First for my own projects, and later for other makers as well.
That is how Zipper Zoo grew: a collection of zippers, hardware and webbing built step by step from the perspective of someone who actually works with the materials.
We supply people who love making things. Some are sewing their first bag. Others have years of experience. Some even build their profession around it.
But they all share the same joy: the joy of making.
For shops
Do you run a shop or webshop and would you like to offer our collection?
We deliberately work with a limited network of retailers. Not because we want to be exclusive, but because a collection works best when shops truly stand behind it.
Shops where bagmaking is part of the story. Where customers are inspired to make things themselves.
If it feels like a good match, we build from there.
The maker behind Zipper Zoo
Zipper Zoo is built by me: Anne Verberckmoes.
I have been active in the bagmaking world for many years. Some makers may still know me from Serial Bagmakers, where I spent years developing bag patterns and materials for bagmakers.
Like many makers, it all started at the sewing table. One bag became two, two became ten. Over time I began designing my own patterns and testing materials intensively in my own projects.
Over the years I released 24 bag patterns and worked with a wide range of materials and techniques. That experience taught me one thing above all: small details make a big difference. A zipper that runs smoothly. Hardware that works together. Stabiliser that behaves exactly as it should.
Whenever I couldn’t find that level of quality on the market, I went looking for it myself — and sometimes started developing it.
That is how Zipper Zoo grew: a collection of materials for bagmakers, built from real experience at the worktable.
